ADAS functionality is enabled by a large number of sensors deployed throughout the vehicle that are networked with I/O modules, actuators and controllers throughout the vehicle. These additional intelligence, networking and control capabilities are made possible by advances in ECU sensing, connectivity, processing and cloud computing. Advanced automobiles require nearly 100 ECUs, each of which draws power from the car's battery through an onboard converter. Each ECU has a specific function, including power conditioning, a processing unit (MCU), and a means to receive data from sensors, drive actuators, and display information.
